Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 July 2026
Lumi English Academy ("Lumi", "we", "us", or "our"), a product of Elistria, operates the website lumienglish.elistria.ai and its related tools. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using our website, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
We aim to collect as little personal data as possible. Depending on how you use Lumi, we may collect:
- Account information — if you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely stored password so you can save your history.
- Content you submit — the writing samples, spoken responses, and practice answers you provide to our AI tools (Band Checker, Speaking Coach, and practice drills) so we can score them and give feedback.
- Preferences — such as your chosen feedback language, stored in your browser.
- Usage data — basic, non-identifying technical information (such as pages visited and how often a free tool is used) used to operate and improve the service.
- Enquiries — if you contact us or submit an early-access or partner form, we collect the email address and message you provide.
2. How we use your information
- To provide our services — scoring your answers, generating feedback, and saving your practice history.
- To operate free-usage limits (for example, counting free attempts).
- To respond to your enquiries and, if you opt in, to send you updates about Lumi.
- To maintain the security of the service and to improve our courses and tools.
3. Third-party services we use
To deliver our features, we rely on trusted third-party service providers. When you use certain tools, the relevant content is sent to these providers solely to process your request:
- Supabase — hosts our database and manages accounts and saved history.
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes the text of your writing and spoken responses to generate scores and feedback.
- ElevenLabs — converts text to spoken audio for the Speaking Coach's voice.
- Cloudflare — hosts and delivers our website.
- Formspree — processes early-access and partner sign-up forms.
- Your browser's speech recognition — some speaking tools use your browser or device's built-in speech-to-text, which may be provided by your browser vendor. This happens on your device or through your browser provider, not through us.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
4. Cookies, local storage, and analytics
We use your browser's local storage to remember preferences and to count free-tool usage. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies. If, in the future, we introduce analytics or advertising (including services such as Google AdSense or Google Ads), those providers may use cookies or similar technologies to measure performance or to serve advertisements based on your prior visits to this and other websites. We will update this policy before doing so. You can control or disable cookies in your browser settings, and you can manage Google's personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.
5. Data retention
If you create an account, we keep your account details and saved history until you ask us to delete them or delete your account. Content submitted to our AI providers is processed to return a result; we do not use your submissions to identify you, and you can request deletion of your saved data at any time.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email us at irfan@elistria.ai and we will respond within a reasonable time.
7. Children's privacy
Lumi is intended for test-takers, generally aged 16 and over. It is not directed at young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. International users
Our providers may process and store data in countries other than your own. By using Lumi, you consent to your information being processed in these locations, which may have different data-protection laws from your country.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including secure hosting and storing passwords in encrypted form. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
