We built Lumi to change that. Our platform combines full, free courses and practice tests with an AI speaking coach and instant writing feedback — and crucially, it explains every rule and mistake in the student's own language, including Urdu, Hindi, Persian and Arabic. The goal is simple: help people walk into test day genuinely ready, and pass the first time.
Lumi was founded by Irfan Basharat, who made the journey from Pakistan to the UAE to the United States and knows first-hand how daunting these English tests can feel. Frustrated by the cost of tutoring and the lack of guidance in his own language, he set out to build the patient, always-available coach he wished he'd had.
Lumi English Academy is a product of Elistria. What started as a personal tool is now an open platform used by learners preparing for exams that will shape the rest of their lives.
