What this task is
An image appears β a bar chart, line graph, map, pie chart, or picture. You get 25 seconds to prepare and 40 seconds to describe it. A memorised template lets you speak fluently while your brain finds the details.
How to score well
- Use a template so you never freeze β fluency is scored more heavily than covering every detail.
- Pick just 2β3 clear features (the highest, the lowest, a trend) rather than listing everything.
- Keep talking for the full 40 seconds with no long pauses.
- End with a one-line overall statement.
Template
βThis image shows a [bar chart / map / process] about [topic]. The most noticeable feature is that [highest / biggest point]. In addition, [a second detail], while [a third detail or comparison]. Overall, it is clear that [general conclusion].β
Common mistakes to avoid
- Pausing while you search for data
- Trying to describe every single number
- Going silent before 40 seconds is up
Lumi tip: Two clear data points said fluently beat five said with hesitation.
